GET INTO A LANE AT THE GALLERIA ROUNDABOUT - MAY 11TH 2006

The much anticipated turning lane at the Galleria Roundabout on West Bay Road has been completed (May 11th, 2006)

The much anticipated turning lane at the Galleria Roundabout on West Bay Road has been completed.  There is now a left-hand turning lane at the crossroads, which requires motorists travelling from the direction of West Bay to George Town to get into one of two lanes. Drivers have the option, in combination with indicating, to either get in the left hand turning lane that leads onto the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, or move into the right lane indicating the drivers’ intention to continue travelling straight on West Bay Road.

The connection will help travellers coming off of the highway onto West Bay Road, as the intentions of oncoming motorists will now be made clear.

“We hope that this addition will help to ease some of the frustrations that motorists have while travelling on the congested strip” said National Roads Authority Director, Colford Scott.

The road authority’s crews are continuing to work on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway extension construction; and once completed the road will help to significantly alleviate travel congestions.

The NRA appreciates the public’s continued patience and understanding while crews work to improve the road network.
