NRA Announces Shamrock Road/Hirst Road Safety Improvement Project
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: August 15, 2024
The National Roads Authority (NRA) is pleased to announce the launch of the Shamrock Road/Hirst Road Safety Improvement Project. This essential initiative is designed to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow near Savannah Primary School, a high-traffic area that serves as a vital corridor for students, parents and the community at large.
Phase one is scheduled to take place from August 21st to August 23rd. During this period, the NRA will oversee the installation of a dedicated Right Turn Lane for the Savannah Post Office and a Centre Turn Lane from the Savannah Post Office to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. These improvements are designed to reduce congestion and minimize the risk of accidents at these key intersections.
The project will be executed in three phases, each aimed at addressing specific safety and traffic concerns in the area. Key elements of the project include the addition of a bus layby and bus-only lanes, dedicated turn lanes and new pedestrian crossings.
Motorists are reminded to drive with caution and pay close attention to all signage and instructions provided by the road work crew. The NRA is committed to enhancing road safety across the Cayman Islands and appreciates the community's patience and cooperation as we undertake these vital improvements.
